Limited or Full Registration?
Here is the difference between the two registration types. No matter which one you choose your dog will be registered with the AKC (American Kennel Club)
A dog registered with an AKC Limited Registration shall be ineligible to be entered in a breed competition in a licensed or member dog show. It is eligible, however, to be entered in any other licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility and Earthdog. No offspring of a dog for which Limited Registration has been granted is eligible for registration. Each registration certificate for such dog shall carry notice of the limitation, and the limitation shall continue, regardless of any change of ownership, unless and until the owner(s) of the litter at birth shall apply to AKC for removal of the limitation."
Full Registration ~ Full reg. is for breeding stock dogs and those that are being actively shown in the bench (dog show) conformation ring.
If you ARE NOT a breeder, you DO NOT need full registration on your dog.
When is my puppy ready?
Puppies can go to their new homes on or after they are 8 weeks of age. We have no problems keeping the puppies here past 8 weeks. If you have an issue and the puppy needs to stay a bit longer they may do so, but no longer than 10 weeks. We want the puppies to bond with the new owners NOT us (even though we love them dearly)!
To Microchip or Not?
One, are they necessary?
If your pet has a high chance of being separated from you, for instance he bolts out your door every chance he gets and doesn’t come back when called, a microchip may be a good idea. If your pet is microchipped make sure the microchip is registered and that your registered contact information is up-to-date. Otherwise, even if a facility finds your pet and reads the microchip, they will not be able to contact you. Here at Rocky Top, all puppies are chipped for future verification if the puppy/or dog is ever in question of where it came from.
What is the deposit for?
A non-refundable deposit is required in order for you to be able to say that you have a hold on a specific puppy. It is a payment of "good faith". All to often people have asked us to hold a puppy for them to never return or even contact us to let us know they have went somewhere else to purchase another puppy. We do NOT take deposits until you are sure you want a puppy from a current litter. Deposits are non-refundable unless something happens to the puppy in our care.
What is your pricing Policy?
Most all of our puppies will fall into the main price of $800 (tri colors), $1000 (red merles), $1000 (blue merle males)and $1500 (blue merle females).
Price can change with each litter depending on the parents status and how many of a certain sex and color we have.
Is Shipping Available?
Yes, we offer shipping by air when weather permits, which is usually most of the year. The cost depends on your location and can only be to a major airport. $300-$450 also depends on the size of crate you ask for. If you want a full size crate that you aussie can use when full grown this will cost you more than the average flight, due to size and weight, but may be a good deal if you plan to use a crate when your pup is full grown.
We can also on occasion deliver the puppy to you (for a travel fee) within a reasonable distance.
We will meet you half way (for a travel fee) if the distance is too far for you or I to make the whole trip and you do not prefer air travel.
